Day 5 of the WSOP Main Event: Paulo Gonçalves leads four qualified Brazilians

Day 5 of the WSOP Main Event ended with a literal blackout. At the end of the day the Amazon lounge lights went out, and left the players in the dark.

The hands in progress were completed with the help of the broadcast team’s lighting, and the tournament was paused for 15 minutes to wait for the power reestablishment. Towards the end of the period, the light came back, but the organization decided to declare to end the day.

Thus, four Brazilians secured their place in Day 6 of the tournament, led by Paulo “Baron” Gonçalves , who is 6.940.000 in chips, the fifth largest stack, after finding a miracle during the day. Ricardo Souza (3,575,000), Paulino Uemura (2,840,000) and Victor Pedote (1,375,000) complete the Brazilian team. Bruno Foster was the only Brazilian eliminated on the day, taking US $ 42,980 for the 276th place.
